Today we were able to bring our favorite stuffy to school to practice some measuring. Students used and compared two different non standard units of measurement (dominoes and cubes). We discovered you needed more cubes than dominoes to measure the same thing because the cubes are smaller. After all our measuring, we lined up our bears from tallest to shortest.

We each picked our own animal to research. Students have been looking in books and on the internet with their Grade 3 buddy. We have been finding out where they live, what the eat, how the move, who their enemies are, and other interesting facts. Check out our classroom of busy researchers!
http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/animals/ http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/animals.html http://www.kidsbiology.com/animals-for-children.php About two weeks after our caterpillars arrived they formed their chrysalis. We are very excited for the next stage! On May 19th we put some green bean seeds with water in the sun. Look at our end results! Ask your child about the different parts of their seed.
Today we went on a walk to the Police Station and Fire Station. We were able to go through both areas. We saw the jail cells, the inside of the police cars, inside the fire trucks and the changing areas. We had a blast learning about these important people in our community. Thank you Mr. Richard, Ms. Melissa, Ms. Lori, Ms. Dawn, and Ms. Michelle.
