There was lots of excitement today in our classroom! Everyone enjoyed building their own gingerbread house to take home. There was candy and icing everywhere, but it was well worth the end result. Thank you so much to Ms. Colleen, Ms. Twylla, Ms. Melissa, Ms. Corin, and Ms. Theressa.

I finally have our reading necklaces! This means that for every ten books you read at home, you get one bead for your necklace. I will be checking your reading log at the beginning of every month. So far the reader with the most books is up to 170! Happy Reading! When we came to school on Tuesday Elfie left us a special treat. Under the tree was marshmallows and hot chocolate. As a class we made some yummy hot lunch to enjoy at lunch. After sipping on our hot chocolate we reviewed our directional writing and wrote directions on how to make hot chocolate. We also talked about our 5 senses and used adjectives to describe the hot chocolate.
Today when we arrived at school there was a special surprise from Santa. Santa left us a letter and sent an elf to watch over us! Every night the elf will report back to Santa and let him know how our day was. I can't wait to see where we will find our elf each day. Our elf also wants to make sure we are doing our school work, so every day she is sending us a fun Christmas activity to do. Today our elf had us doing some math with our Christmas tree. Students had to estimate, measure and compare.
Today in writing we learned how to write friendly letters. We started our mini unit by writing letters to Santa. We even cut pictures out of the toy flyers to add to our letters.Copies of your child's letter will be coming home this week, don't forget to mail them off to Santa!
